Academic employee to the Human Rights team at the Permanent Mission of Denmark 

 

The Danish UN mission in Geneva is seeking to recruit an academic employee (full-time job) on a local contract from June 1, 2019. As employee you will join our dynamic Team working on international cooperation on Human Rights.

Main tasks and responsibilities:
• Negotiations during Denmark's membership of the UN Human Rights Council, including EU coordination.
• Preparation of Denmark’s recommendations for other countries' Universal Periodic Review.
• Organizing events, seminars, meetings and visits.
• Managing Danish grants for a number of international human rights organizations and other similar tasks.

Required qualifications:
• Theoretical background and some work experience with international human rights issues. Knowledge of the UN system would be an advantage
• A strong team worker
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks
• Sharp analytical capability.
• Strong written and oral communication and negotiation skills.
• Excellent command of English both oral and written.
• Command of one of the Scandinavian languages

Terms of employment:
• You will be offered full time employment for the duration of the Danish Membership of the Human Rights Council until December 2021.
• The contract is a local contract in accordance with the Mission's rules and policies
• Your standard working hours will be 40 hours per week.
• You will be entitled to 5 weeks of paid holiday per year. 
• Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant experience and proven work-related results. 
• As part of your salary you will be covered by a workplace pension scheme.
