Mr. President,

Denmark welcomes the delegation of Saudi Arabia and thanks it for its presentation.

Denmark is extremely concerned about conditions for civil society activists and journalists, including the extrajudicial killing of Jamal Khashoggi.

Denmark recommends the Government to amend or adopt legislation to ensure freedom of the press, opinion and expression.

Denmark commends reforms allowing women to vote and drive, but remains concerned.

Denmark recommends the Government to abolish the system of guardianship of women.

Denmark remains deeply concerned about the continued use of torture.

Finally, Denmark recommends the Government to ratify the OPCAT.
