Intervention by Denmark

Mr. President,

Denmark welcomes the delegation of Albania and thanks it for its presentation today.

Denmark commends the Government of Albania for its progress in combatting domestic violence, which includes the improved provision of shelters for victims. However, Denmark is concerned about the inadequate number of shelter spaces and the requirements for obtaining shelter spaces.

Denmark recommends the Government to strengthen the support for victims of domestic violence, especially women and children, by increasing the number of shelter spaces in line with art. 23 of the Istanbul Convention.

Indigenous peoples are amongst the most marginalised populations around the world, often facing discrimination and exploitative labour conditions violating their human rights.

Denmark recommends the Government to ratify the Indigenous and Tribal Peoples convention No. 169 of the International Labour Organisation.

Denmark wishes Albania a successful review.

I thank you.
