Intervention by Denmark

[Check against delivery]

Mr. President,

Denmark welcomes the delegation of the DPRK and thanks it for its presentation.

While Denmark welcomes the first-ever visit to the DPRK by an independent expert designated by the Human Rights Council, Denmark remains deeply concerned about the very grave and serious human rights situation in the DPRK.

Denmark recommends the Government to immediately improve the very grave and serious human rights situation in the DPRK, especially by granting all international human rights bodies and mechanisms full access to the country.

Denmark remains very concerned about the continuing violations of the human rights of children in the DPRK.

Denmark recommends the Government to establish an independent, third-party institution dedicated to combating child abuse.

Finally, Denmark recommends the Government to ratify the Convention against Torture.

Denmark wishes the DPRK a successful review.

Thank you.
