Job posting. Policy advisor on humanitarian affairs at the Permanent Mission of Denmark to the UN in Geneva

The Permanent Mission of Denmark to the UN in Geneva is looking for a policy advisor (full time) as of 1 February or a soon as possible thereafter. As policy advisor, you will be working with the Mission’s other employees, mainly covering humanitarian affairs in close collaboration with the other colleagues in the humanitarian team.

Main tasks:
Your main tasks will consist of independently covering
- the collaboration with ICRC, OCHA and some humanitarian NGO’s in Geneva
- tasks related to the Grand Bargain, the Good Humanitarian Donorship, the international humanitarian system, incl. IHL, humanitarian financing, among other things
- tasks related to humanitarian crises and international appeals regarding humanitarian situations in Africa, Asia and Latin America
- management of Danish humanitarian aid and relevant strategy processes.

We are looking for someone with appropriate theoretical knowledge of – and preferably professional experience in working with – humanitarian affairs. Good knowledge of the UN system, as well as the Danish central administration and the EU will also be an advantage.
Furthermore, it is crucial that you
- are able to work and solve tasks independently and with a high degree of professionalism with a limited amount of instruction and guidance,
- are highly analytical,
- have strong written and oral communication and negotiation skills,
You should be fluent both written and orally in English. A strong command of Danish is an important quality and knowledge of French will also be an advantage.

Terms and conditions of employment:
You will be employed as local staff and according to the Mission’s rules and policies. The salary will be determined based on relevant qualifications and experience.
