Denmark welcomes the delegation of Tanzania.
Although all sexual offences are criminalized in the Penal Code, we are concerned that domestic and intimate partner violence and marital rape are still not criminalized.

Denmark recommends the Government to enact a comprehensive law on SGBV, ensuring inclusion of indigenous women and girls and those living with disabilities.

While freedom of expression has been improved by amending the Statistics Act, unwarranted restrictions on civic space remain.

Denmark recommends the Government to amend the Non-Governmental Organisations Act (Amendments) Regulations 2018, in line with international human rights standards on freedoms of association and peaceful assembly.

Finally, Denmark recommends the Government to ratify the CAT.

Allow me in this context to highlight that the Convention against Torture Initiative stands ready to assist Tanzania in advancing on this issue, if deemed helpful.

We wish Tanzania a successful review.

I thank you.
