UPR44: Denmark gives UPR-recommendations to Canada

Mr. President,
Denmark welcomes and thanks the delegation of Canada for its presentation.
We commend Canada for adopting the National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence and for advancing the implementation of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).
Denmark recommends Canada to:
1. Ensure effective and comprehensive implementation of the National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence and to enact necessary accountability mechanisms for sexual- and gender-based violence, including for missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.
2. Include the right to free, prior, and informed consent for all Indigenous Peoples in the forthcoming National Action Plan in order to align legislation with UNDRIP.
3. Ratify the Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.
