UPR45: Denmark gives UPR recommendations to Nigeria

Intervention by Denmark
Mr. President,
Denmark welcomes the delegation from Nigeria and thanks it for its presentation.
We commend the efforts undertaken by Nigeria to adopt national action plans on human rights, gender equality, and women’s empowerment. However, we remain concerned about the challenges to realize all human rights.
Denmark recommends Nigeria to:
1) Establish a de jure moratorium on the death penalty and commute all death sentences to terms of imprisonment.
2) Combat sexual- and gender-based violence, including through the investigation and legal prosecution of cases.
Denmark wishes Nigeria a successful review.
