Mr. President,
Denmark welcomes the delegation of Slovenia and thanks it for its presentation today.
We commend Slovenia for adopting legislation that has enabled the Human Rights Ombudsman to apply for “A status” in accordance with the Paris Principles.

However, Denmark recommends the Government to ensure that the Human Rights Ombudsman is fully autonomous and independent from the Government by amending public finance legislation.
We note the importance of the right of detainees to access to a laywer.
Denmark recommends the Government to ensure that all detained persons effectively benefit from the right of access to a lawyer from the very outset of their deprivation of liberty, if necessary free of charge.
Denmark wishes Slovenia a successful review.
I thank you.
