Mr. President,

Denmark welcomes the delegation and thanks it for its presentation.

Denmark remains very concerned about the treatment of peaceful demonstrators.

Denmark recommends the Government to protect the rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly by ensuring that peaceful demonstrators are not persecuted, intimidated, imprisoned, ill-treated, or tortured.

Denmark notes the repealing of article 193(1) of the Criminal Code. However, Denmark remains very concerned about the increasing pressure on civil society organisations.

Denmark recommends the Government to bring legislation on freedom of association into full compliance with its international obligations, including by repealing Art. 23.88 of the Code of Administrative Offences.

Denmark recommends the Government to ratify OPCAT.

Denmark wishes Belarus a successful review.

Thank you.
