Thank you Madam President,
Denmark aligns itself with the EU statement.
We welcome the Special Rapporteur and thank him for his presentation.
Denmark is alarmed by the conflict in Rakhine and Chin States and call on all parties to pursue negotiated solutions.

We note Myanmar’s report to the ICJ and urge the Government to make it public to ensure transparency in the implementation of the provisional measures. We call on Myanmar to ensure full implementation of all recommendations made by the Rakhine Advisory Commission.

We welcome the Presidential Directives on combating hate speech, preventing genocidal acts, and evidence preservation. These must be followed by proactive, concrete actions. In light of upcoming elections, we reiterate our call on the Government and stakeholders to take actions to combat disinformation and hate speech online.

We are concerned by restrictions on media and humanitarian access amid the COVID-19 crisis. How can the Council best support the Special Rapporteur’s work in this challenging time?

Thank you.
