Statement from the Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs following the tragic events in Bamako, Mali, yesterday: 

"Denmark condemns in the strongest possible terms the terror attack at the Radisson Blu hotel in Bamako yesterday. I extend my deep condolences and sympathy to the families and loved ones of the victims of this terrible attack. I would like to thank the Malian, MINUSMA and international security personnel for their courageous termination of the hostage situation.

Together with our international partners, Denmark stands together with the Malian people and supports the government of Mali in investigating the tragic attack.
Faced with this terror attack we stand united. And the terrorists shall be defeated.

Mali is an important partner to Denmark. Our broad and comprehensive engagement in the country includes support to political solutions to the crisis including the signed peace agreement, military and civil contributions to MINUSMA, long term development cooperation and a regional stabilization programme."
