Mme. President,

Denmark thanks the Libyan delegation for its presentation and commends the recent signing of a cease-fire agreement.

The human rights situation, including for migrants, remains a serious concern.

Denmark recommends ending automatic detention of migrants, asylum seekers and refugees by amending Law 19 and ensuring conditions of detention are in line with the obligations under the Convention Against Torture.

Denmark remains concerned about women and girls’ rights in Libya.

Denmark recommends the Government to reaffirm its commitment to ensuring full and effective participation of women in the peace process.

Finally, Denmark recommends ratifying Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture.

We wish Libya a successful review.

Thank you.
