Mr. President,
Denmark aligns itself with the EU statement. We are very concerned with the human rights situation in Egypt, Lebanon, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Venezuela and Vietnam.
Denmark is disturbed by the human rights situation in Ukraine stemming from Russia’s unprovoked war. We also urge The Russian Federation to ensure the full enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms in Russia.
We welcome the release of the OHCHR assessment report of human rights in China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region that confirms our serious concern raised over recent years. We urge China to implement all recommendations. We call on the council to give urgent attention to the situation.
Denmark is deeply concerned over the deterioration in the human rights situation in Mali. Denmark strongly supports the call on all parties to respect the human rights of civilians by the Independent Expert on Mali.
Denmark is concerned about the conflicts in Libya and Yemen and urges all parties to fully respect human rights and humanitarian law.
As we approach the upcoming 2022 football World Cup, we encourage Qatar to further strengthen respect for human rights, including the conditions for migrant workers and for LGBTQ+ people.
I thank you.
