UPR41: Denmark gives UPR recommends Ecuador

Mr. President,
Denmark welcomes the delegation of Ecuador.
We welcome the comprehensive legislative and policy framework for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls. We commend the initiative to increase women candidates for the 2025-elections.
We remain concerned about gender-based violence against women politicians.
Denmark recommends Ecuador to adopt programmes to prevent gender-based violence against women politicians and candidates in public discourse, and provide capacity-building on political campaigning and leadership skills, and ensure access to adequate campaign financing for women candidates.
While legislative measures to combat gender-based violence have been adopted, indigenous women and girls continue to be affected disproportionately.
Denmark recommends Ecuador to ensure access to justice for indigenous women and girls in both the ordinary and the indigenous systems.
Denmark wishes Ecuador a successful review.
