UPR45: Denmark gives UPR-recommendations to Saudi Arabia

Mr. President,
Denmark welcomes the delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and acknowledges positive measures taken since Saudi Arabia’s last UPR.
At the same time, we remain concerned about the human rights situation, including the increased use of the death penalty.
Denmark therefore recommends to establish a moratorium on the use of the death penalty.
Denmark is also concerned about the restrictions on freedom of expression.
Denmark therefore recommends to adopt legislation to guarantee freedom of expression, both online and offline.
Finally, with regard to the absolute prohibition of torture.
Denmark recommends to lift the reservations to Article 20 and Article 30 paragraph 1 of CAT.
